I love you.
I love your transport system despite strikes and " incidents ".It is clear and easy and far better structured than the rubbish we call public transport back home.
I love your architecture.Truly madly and deeply I do.
I love your green green grass.
I love that you still sell all my childhood sugary treats for me to sneak past the children and indulge in secret.
I love the cold. Not the wind but the crisp cold that comes with blue skies and long walks through heaths and commons wearing Hunter wellies and walking a big hairy dog named Penelope.
I love the pubs.Welcoming dogs and children( notice that dogs rank first here) and fascilitating long lazy afternoons.
I love that today we went past a school where all the little girls were outside in their red wintry elf hats and navy capes-so much better than a Madeleine moment if that were possible.
I love the dinosaur display at the Natural History Museum and Charles Darwin watching over all who enter his domain.Actually everything about that place makes me swoon.
I love that the museum was full of school excursions today and each group was dressed for the occasion. Some were in lab coats, some were in hard hats and safety vests.Easy for the teachers and super fab for the kids.
I love that you can live in the gorgeous countryside enjoying village life and growing your own and still be in the thick of things in an hour.
I love that I can be in Paris in less time than it would take me to negotiate the M5 and get to Canberra.
I love that we can have lunch at Carluccios and feel we have had something nice in a friendly and busy foody heaven for less than we could get very basic lunch without a glass of valpolicella at my local cafe.
I love central and underfloor heating.Did I mention that the boiler had a stroke and the boys and I have just had three days without heating and two days without hot water all while I battled a rather disgusting chest cold I brought home from the plane?
I love love love that it looks like we will be having a white christmas as there is snow on the ground outside while I write this.
For the record my boys love you too.For you are the home of their favourite place on earth.

And they find it fantastically exhausting.xxxx
