My sweet old lady Harriet has been driving me insane lying all over the blankets I am trying to complete before I hit the... oh you know... 'project been going for one year' mark.(peeps I am going to fail!)
I often picture my spaniel Molly snoring way in a Cath dog bed but given that there is no Molly yet sadly but there is a pesky feline in need of her own tempting sleeping zone, I actually took to the sewing machine this morning.M.I.R.A.C.L.E
There was a lot of fiddling and a tape measure induced mathematical headache as I tried not to waste any of the Cath fabric but tada!!
The lowdown- I used polyester wadding doubled over for the sides and for the bottom I made a sandwich with cotton batting as the bread and doubled over polyester wadding as the filling(okay I'm writing this at lunchtime clearly!).The bottom of the bed is cotton canvas for durability and after I inserted the sandwich and whipstitched the back opening closed, I then hand stitched a couple of knots on either side to ensure that the sandwich doesn't lose its filling.I also machined in intervals around the edge to help the sides stay up better. It looks very bright and beautiful and I think I did Cath proud.
The question is now....
will madam use it??????
xxxx
ooh v.exciting-this feathered friend will be making his debut in a book due out next year.
edited to add :
and no I didnt pay her with her body weight in sardines-she is really and honestly pretending to be asleep to make me happy ; )
I bought a striped dog bed from Cath Kidston in Bath yesterday as the last one had fallen apart....Yours is SO much nicer....I so wanted a spotty one but they'd stopped doing it, wish Cath would take a leaf out of your book, the print you've chosen is so pretty.
God you're clever.............
Take care,
Jane. xx
