Hello there!! Please it feels like months although I realise it is actually only weeks. Two really. How are you???!!
We are cold.Cold but having a wonderful time.If only the poor little Australian dollar would lift its head a bit it would be a much better time.So far I have not bought a thing! Not one scrap of fabric or crate load of clothing or anything really. The exchange rate is the best contraceptive a girl could hope for and yet not- if you get my meaning.
We have been so lucky with the weather.Blue skies every day except for a rainy blip last week.We took the boys to "visit the Queen' last weekend and I couldn't have bought a better postcard if I had tried. There wasn't even anybody there! Straight through and blue skies everywhere. I must say that standing inside St Georges chapel was very emotional.Especially when the lady told us that below our feet was a vault full to the brim of royal blood.Bodies everywhere she said.Charmed I"m sure!! No more room now.Only Kings and Queens allowed.Anybody else has to be cremated.Ouch.
Afterwards the boys had a real treat as Santa ,with his reindeer, came prancing through the town! I was five all over again!
We did get on the wrong bus yesterday ,from Clapham, and I was really cranky until I realised that we were passing a fabric shop that was on my list. Can you imagine my excitement!I shall go back soon.
I have not gone anywhere near Loop yet.London is very spread out(I had not realised this before) so traipsing around with the blossoms and the Husband everyday is exhausting and has to be planned.Shops are not their preferred destination understandably.Ice skating is a bit of a favourite though and tonight we whipped around the Natural History Museum ice rink.Absolutely beautiful! I must admit to not being too shabby on the ice and (now I am completely jinxing myself) my bottom has not spent a moment on the ice yet!The trick will be to maintain any coordination we may have found when back home.Too much sunshine=not enough romantic fairy lit ice-rinks.Hmmmm.
Afterwards I was able to sip Veuve at Tiffanys during an invite only shopping night.Well the girl can't shop but she can certainly try on right??I now have my fantasy christmas/birthday pressies all picked out.Possibly a five year pay off but wouldn't my hands look flash!
We walked miles/kilometers yesterday and ended up at the National Gallery. What a beautiful place. The other day we spent quite some time at the Tate Modern which we loved but at the National Gallery there were people who I really believe had been there all day long. And I could understand. It is so peaceful and beautiful and so magical. My boys with their sketch books were loving the whole "art student moment" and I encouraged it every step of the way.My heart broke though at the painting of the execution of Lady Jane Grey. She was only a baby (17 is still a baby for a mother surely) and her situation always makes me so sad.To see it larger that life was quite breath taking.
Henrys birthday in Paris got bumped a little due to work commitments with my sister so we are taking him to see 'Wicked' and going to Paris the following week.I have my fingers and toes crossed because I have read such mixed reviews about children seeing this show but it was impossible to go without them.I have been trying to talk them through the story so as to prepare them somewhat.I do think the flying monkeys might scare the wits out of all of us!
I feel very strange not doing any sewing of any kind.I did bake the gingerbread house today in readiness for lolly overkill and the boys have been busy glueing and drawing some christmas cards.
My little sister doesn't own a sewing machine!!!! Perhaps Santa will hear her plea....
Little friends I am umming and ahhing over from Liberty.Liberty oh Liberty how did we survive before thee.... I took so many photos of the heavenly store I will be uploading them for months to some.I will be back at some time so keep going with your lovely Christmas preparations.I will have to bunker down and go through them all when we get home and I look forward to it-living vicariously through your creativity!! Back soonishxxxx
